Tackling the big VISA issue: initiatives and goals

Dear all, in these months there is a disturbing issue in our community: the timings and the procedures for renewing the visa, a vital element in our lives in Israel. The good news is that we did not forget about you, and we are aware of the discomfort, the frustration and the shocking experiences that many of us are encountering and sharing, especially after the last update from the Visa office. As of now, one should send their visa application 3 months in advance! This means, other than the ridiculous waiting time, that the new visa will be activated by the day of the payment of the fees, which inevitably will happen before the natural end of the previous visa. Consequently, the next visa will probably be shortened, and again the next renewal will happen three months in advance.  Other than that, it is not clear how the things are handled in between the Visa office and the Ministry of Interior, and there is disappointment also from our side: we fought all of this time to get...

New visa situation because of the "Passport Marathon"

This month again (for the N time, where N is a number bigger than 1) the Ministry of Interior changed again its modus operandi , creating a new situation for the offices. The idea behind this is to advantage the Israeli population in the renewal of their passports, which was delayed and inefficient for several months. To understand more, follow this link on The Jerusalem Post . This inevitably affects the visa process again, especially for those whose visas and licenses were set to end by 30.9.23 . The following visas are automatically extended for 6 months period: a1 (eligible under the right of return) (a2)students/trainees/interns (a3)Clergy a4 (companion to a3 a2 ) (a5)temporary resident (b1) working visa permits for temporary stay in Israel for Palestinians (for family reunion and humanitarian reasons) Here's the link of the official website of the Government. On VISA renewal and delays from the Ministry of Interior

The 2023 started slowly for the VISA renewal process. In fact, now that the national strike that hampered the normal activities of the Immigration offices is over, any expiring visa needs to be renewed ASAP. Unfortunately, there are huge delays in the process and the waiting times are lengthy and uncertain. If you are aware of the expiration date of your visa, the very first thing to do is to fill the TAU international (Visa office) form, which is MANDATORY to request an appointment to the Ministry of Interior for the bureaucracy of the renewal. Here -->  https://forms.monday.com/forms/6066d621e0591bb9e2007473c1807ece?r=use1 Also, according to the last information we got, there are some new rules: The process can take several weeks up to 2 months, so it is suggested to start preparing the papers and reserve a place in the waiting list 2-3 months ahead. The people whose Visas status is pending are considered by law "not regular", but the de facto situation tolerates them, ...
