Welcome to the first TAU international Volunteers-managed blog! This blog has been created to give complementary information to the graduated students of TAU and to create a community where we can share thoughts and information. This blog is not affiliated to any of the TAU services or bureaucratic apparatus and it is meant to be an informal tool where people can be updated, alongside the Whatsapp group and the informal word-of-mouth. Each student or post-doc is more than welcome to approach and participate in the creation of this blog, acting as a volunteer (with a little basic commitment) but also as an user, where they can collect any sort of information. All of the content posted on this blog is under the responsibility of the person who wrote it and posted it. UPDATE 06.11.23 Guidelines for the WhatsApp group 1.Respect & Kindness: Treat all members with respect and kindness. Be mindful of your tone and language. 2. Stay On Topic: Keep discussions releva...
Dear all,
we just want to communicate that today the TAU International Office started a new WhatsApp Community for the clarity and the benefit of all of the International students and scholars in the University.
What is a WhatsApp Community? Check it out at THIS video.
What does the TAU community contain?
The community has several branches, each one dedicated to a specific topic to be discussed. The community of "TAU International Research students" contains 3 branches:
- An announcement group called " International Researchers TAU", where only the admins can forward official notification and information to all of the members, but in a format one-to-one. This means that you can't answer the posts, only react.
- The "Lowy Admin Research Student Group" where any Research student (M.Sc., PhD and postdoc) can participate in the discussions about general topics that concern the experience on campus. The International office team members will directly interact with anyone who brings up an argument of general interest, an issue or a proposal. At the same time, the TAU int. officers will propose and share information, guidance, activities. Don't forget that this group is meant to be a professional and official channel, where specific guidelines and rules apply.
- The TAU intl. PhDs&Postdocs, our typical common, informal, social and mutual support group, the one that has always existed.
Why did we need this change?
We have been discussing for so long about a way to improve the communication between the International scholars and the International Office of TAU. The major problem to be tackled was the lack of clarity, the consistency of the information provided and received, the detachment between TAU and the people.
Additionally, the TAU International Office members were worried about our privacy and the formality in certain contexts, which is an important issue, especially for them who have the legal responsibility toward us.
Given these needs, and the new situation that came out after our discussions, and above all the war issue, we agreed to the creation of this community, which is an initiative of the Lowy International School.
Make sure you entered the various rooms, so that you won't miss out the notifications and the news.
What happened to my WA chat?
As a member of the TAU intl. PhDs&Postdocs group, you were automatically added to the community, with the option to enter spontaneously the branches we presented above. This means that the logo and the name of our group will be shown as a series of circles, and that the group itself will be present inside the TAU International Research students community.
An important detail (1)
From now on, each person who wants to enter any group of the WA community must request the access and the relative admins will need to accept it. We, as INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS VOLUNTEERING AND SUPPORT GROUP, have two admins with Authority: Valentina and Bhavana. The rest of the groups are moderated by Zoe.
An important detail (2)
There are new regulations and Guidelines that apply to all of the groups of the community, which have been established by TAU International office. This means that you should carefully read them before posting in any group. The guidelines are present in the description of all of the groups and are reported also on our blog at THIS link.
At the same time, we were asked to formalize some parts of our volunteering activity, so we created the Privacy Policy and the Terms and Conditions
A plus one
There is also another community: Lowy International School Tel Aviv University, which is a broader community where several groups have been added. The groups are:
* these groups were created on the behalf of the start of the war and are related to the people who are in TAU in these months
